Apollo 11 Moon Rock Gag Gift

Purple "Moon Rock" Gag Gift (2.5x1") presented to Buzz Aldrin by fellow astronaut Fred (Freddo) Haise shortly after the return of Apollo 11. Professionally mounted on a wooden plaque (7x9"), the metal plaque reads: "To Buzz Aldrin for keen observation and exceptional judgment in furthering geology while milling around the lunar surface on July 20, 1969. "I never saw a purple rock, I never thought I'd see one; but when I reached the moon, I did! I did! 1did! I saw one. Freddo". There is a 1996 signed card on the reverse from Rick Boos stating: "This plaque was presented to Astronaut Buzz Aldrin by fellow astronaut Fred Haise "Freddo", in the summer of 1969. Said plaque was obtained by myself by placing a successful bid during the February1995 Superior Gallery auction. Item 407". (Note. Said lot sold for $201 in that sale). A great collateral piece of memorabilia.
