Description: Group of 6 pencil floor plans from the firm of Julia Morgan, for "The Bend" at Wyntoon, plus 6 additional sheets with architectural details. Sheets of various sizes, on tracing paper.Includes basement, first floor and second floor plans. On the front of one plan is a pencil note from Morgan's assistant Warren McClure reading "Dear Mr. Hearst, Is this idea worthy of any consideration? The only reason I present it is that the new room has such good possibilities for fine outlook and general cheerfulness which the old room (present theater) does not - Hence my reversing their titles. McClure". "The Bend" is the main building at Wyntoon, the locale of most meals and entertainment, so named for its placement on a bend in the McCloud River. From 1939 on, Morgan had volunteered to work without commission, but work at Wyntoon progressed only slowly. These plans for improvements in 1945 must have been among the very last work Morgan did for Wyntoon and William Randolph Hearst.
