(British, 1683-1749), "The Crested Jay (Blue Jay)" from [The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands], watermark "IV", possibly 1754 edition, hand colored engraving on laid paper, plate 9-3/4 x 13-5/8 in., page 14-1/4 x 20-3/8 in.; modern gilt wood frame. Hinged at top, toning, stains top margin, binding edge at bottom, repaired 1 in. tear bottom margin middle, some text bleed. Provenance: The Estate of the Late William L. Montague, Jr., Lookout Mountain, Tennessee
