basket, rounded rectangular form with openwork sides, footed base, hinged handle, with two fitted flatware trays, assay marks for St. Petersburg, 1818-1864, maker marks for A. Yashinov, 1795-1826, .875 fine, 25.29 oz.T., 11-1/4 x 11-1/2 x 9 in. Dents. Provenance: Descended in George Washington Campbell family to present consignor. Commissioned by George Washington Campbell of Tennessee, who served as America's minister to Russia from 1818-1820; accompanied by two letters from his great-great-great-granddaughter stating family history.
