walnut throughout with yellow pine corner braces, period yellow pine slip seat marked "V", chair frame marked "VI", splat with applied carved masks, elaborately carved splat and stiles, carved knees, pad feet, probably Southern, 18th century, 40 x 22-1/2 x 22 in. Probably Victorian era carving, breaks and losses to crest at joint with one stile, some cracks to legs at joint with seat rails, some knee returns restored. Provenance: Property of a North Carolina Collector
