tapering sides, C-scroll handle, wave decoration at top and bottom, marked "CLARK & BIDDLE" (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, working 1860-1894), and marks for Peter Krider (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, working 1860-1903), inscribed "Sophie/1868", 2.74 oz.T., 3 x 3-3/4 x 2-3/4 in. Handle pulled and separated, rim bent, dents, scratches. Provenance: Property of a Descendant of Peter Mallett Colonel Peter Mallett (1744-1805) was commissary general of North Carolina during the Revolutionary War. His son Charles Peter Mallett (1792-1873) was a successful Fayetteville, North Carolina merchant and planter whose mills provided cloth for the Confederacy until burned down by General Sherman in 1865.
