Gregory Ridley copper panel

(Tennessee, 1925-2004), "A Mask Ritual", signed lower left in copper "Ridley" and verso "by Greg Ridley", hand-hammered copper relief on painted door, 30 x 78 in. Loss to veneer at one corner of door. An African-American artist, Gregory Ridley taught at Fiske University and studied with the renowned Aaron Douglas, a Harlem renaissance painter and muralist. Ridley created 80 copper panels for the grand reading room of the Nashville Public Library, Nashville, Tennessee.
