carved and parcel gilt with tufted white upholstered seat, fine mask carved knees with heart and pierced carved shell rails on foliate carved legs with scrolled feet, French, probably 18th century, 17-1/4 x 46 x 21-3/4 in. Later blocking with some looseness, screw and bolts to legs and later blocking, old painted surface over earlier gilt, scattered wear and minor losses to carved elements overall. Provenance: The Estate of the Late Shirley Freeman, Greenville, South Carolina
