hinged mahogany folding box opening to felt surface, one end inset with nine half-sphere pockets, sides of board with holes for scorekeeping pins, [lacking pins], probably British, 19th century, closed 3-1/4 x 9-1/2 x 12-1/4 in., open 1-1/8 x 9-1/2 x 24 in., with five marbles. Box with scattered scratches, cracks and separations (largest crack 8 in. on top), felt faded with scattered holes, replaced marbles, possibly lacking sticks. Provenance: The Estate of the Late Shirley Freeman, Greenville, South Carolina
