Yaacov Agam was born in 1928 in Rishon Lezion, Israel. He studied at the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem. In 1951 he traveled to Paris and two years later, in 1953, opened at the Craven Gallery an exhibition composed of kinetic moveable and transferable paintings. That event is considered the first one man show exclusively devoted to kinetic art. Agam's work is related to the rejection of the traditional concepts of painting and sculpture in favor of the kinetic and op art. His paintings and three dimensional. This striking framed Agamograph is a multi-dimensional image that combines lenticular lens to suggest the illusion of a movement. In this fine example of Agam's Kinetic Art he creates a geometric and colorful grid with a steady rhythm that enhances the work's vertical and horizontal directions and produces a misleading three dimensional movement. "My endeavor has been to create a kind or visual graphic art, existing not only in space, but in time, one in which the form develops and evolves, thus procuring an unforeseeable infinity of plastic situations flowing out of one another" (Yaacov Agam).
