C. Crolius " Stoneware / Redware Ovoid Crock with blue decoration. Marked "C. Crolius Manhattan - Wells New York". This early ovoid crock was made circa 1810 and features free hand cobalt blue decoration around the applied handles and shoulder. There is a significant loss to the glaze finish on lower half of the body in the form of shallow pitting. The crock was apparently painted at some point with most of the paint now being removed. Chip on rim approx 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" long. Several thumbnail size chips at base. measures: 12"h x 9"diam
