His First Class career spanned between 1953 and 1968 and during this time he scored 1,000 runs in a season on 12 occasions, and reaching 2,000 3 times. He made 76 First Class centuries (20 in Test Matches) with a highest score of 256 v Australia at Old Trafford in 1964. He finished on 31,714 runs at an average of 45.63. Barrington also took a career total of 273 wickets. He played 82 matches for England.
