ROMANELLI, Pasquale, (Italian, 1812-1887): "Sulamitide", White Marble, 19" h., 15" w., 10" d., depicts a young woman with jeweled head-dress, "Sulamitide" inscribed on the five coins hanging on her forehead, her breast framed by a garland of flowers, incised signature P. Romanelli, Firenze. The original source of inspiration for this bust is "La Sulamitide" (Rome, 1739), a play by Giuseppe Maria Ercolani. Very good condition, several minor abrasions.
