Liver Eaten Johnson Western Memorabilia

Sign In to see what this sold for

Comprising a grayish green felted wool hat accented with beige stitching, a photograph of John "Liver Eaten" Johnson accompanied by a letter of authenticity fro a Wyoming dealer, and an August 1973 edition of "Old Timers Wild West" magazine with the story of "Liver Eaten Johnson". John "Liver Eaten" Johnson was an early Montana pioneer and Indian fighter, who earned the grisly moniker after killing over 300 Crow Indians as retribution for killing his pregnant Flathead Indian wife. Johnson reportedly began scalping and eating the livers of his victims. Johnson was a legend of the West and an inspiration for "Jeremiah Johnson", a film starring Robert Redford.
