Japan, 19th century, the kesa or Buddhist priest robe, is woven in silk with stylized phoenix in flight, pieced together with noble family emblems, the verso backed in iron red silk. 62 1/4" x 42 1/2". Condition: some light expected imperfections, including light staining. Provenance: From a prominent Bratenahl, Ohio estate.
