France, ca. 1860, a beautifully painted baby with breather nostrils and intaglio eyes, eating a biscuit in an ornately designed baby chair, incised La Fils De Paul Ruben cie. This large figure was probably a trinket box. 11.5" H. Excellent (missing drawer, chip on seat back)
