Rare Wakefield Automobile Baby Carriage

Wakefield Rattan Company, Wakefield MA, ca. 1900, this extremely rare rattan baby carriage is in the form of an early automobile and is extremely well made. Includes the rattan body with forward opening front "hood" and caned bottom, separate rattan fenders and running boards, brass headlights with glass lenses, wrought iron chassis with scrolled springs, iron handle bracket and turned wooden handle, wooden spoke wheels with hard rubber tires and brass hubcaps, with metal tag mounted to body embossed "Wakefield", pleated leather upholstery and convertible top. 50" L. Excellent (minor breaks in rattan at the cowl, leather upholstery and top are well made replacements)
