Impressive 38-Star Colorado Statehood Induction Flag

1876, 38-Star American Flag, Colorado Induction Into the Union, Very Fine.
The canton of this flag has a wonderful Star Pattern, being "7-6-6-6-7" with the longer lines of Stars being across the top and bottom, and the remainder centered within. This large flag measures 6' x 8' and was produced for the celebration of the admission of the new State of Colorado into the American Union. Colorado was admitted to the Union on August 1, 1876, and was celebrated on Independence Day, July 4th, of that special Centennial year. Thus, this 1876 flag is an Induction flag. It is made of wool bunting with hand-sewn cotton Stars, while the Stripes of the flag are machine sewn. The Canton has been cut so the Star pattern shows through to the back side. The Hoist has two brass grommets and is stamped "6-10." There are some moderate moth holes and some splitting to the canton, otherwise this old flag is still quite attractive. An impressive American Flag which carries a great heritage from 1876.
