April 19, 1866, Partly-printed Document Signed, Philadelphia, Choice Very Fine.
Completed in ink on a 6" x 8" ruled sheet, this certificate issued by the State Whisky Inspectors for the Port of Philadelphia certifies that "I [Joseph Osbourne] have this day Gauged and Inspected 50 Barrels of Whisky marked for H. Craig & Co..." Light creases else fine. Interesting to note that in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, alcohol was perhaps the most regulated commodity in the reunified country.
