Sleidanus (Johannes) A Famouse Cronicle of oure Time, first edition, second issue, black letter, title with woodcut arms and early ink ownership inscription, woodcut initials, title and A2 outer margins reapired, paper flaw causing hole to 2C6, with loss of a few letters, but no loss of sense, 2N5 similar flaw, with partial loss to 2 letters, 3A6 repaired tear to upper margin, a few small spots, 19th century speckled calf, gilt, upper joint weak, rubbed, a very good, wide-margined copy, [STC 19848], [John Daye], [1560].***An important record of The Reformation from one of the fore-most printers of the period. It chronicles the reign of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and records the spread of Luther's ideology and other key events, including Henry VIII's break with Rome and the great conflict with the Turks.
