This work is generally cited as the supreme example of the use of the Royal Greek Types ('Grecs du Roy') and is the first work to be printed in all three sizes of the types. D.B. Updike in his Printing Types calls it "one of the most exquisite books printed from these fonts". The work chronicles the various Roman wars from the earliest times to the campaigns of Trajan. .
