Marcellinus (Ammianus) Historiae, libri XIV-XXVI, first edition, 105 ff. only (of 136, lacking 31 ff. and with 13 ff. misplaced (full details available upon request)), 38 lines, Roman letter, capital spaces, lacunae in the text and for Greek, with extensive near contemporary red and black ink marginalia and underlining, stained, some marginalia slightly faded by staining, 19th century dark brown crushed morocco, gilt, rubbed, [BMC IV, 54; Goff A-564; Hain 926], folio, Rome, Georgius Sachsel and Bartholomaeus Golsch, 7th June, 1474.***The first book printed by Sachsel and Golsch and the only edition printed in the 15th century. The work originally comprised 31 books, of which only books 14-31 survive.
