Vitruvius Pollio (Marcus) De Architectura Libri Dece, translated by Bono Mauro da Bergamo and Benedetto Jovio da Comasio, commentary by Cesare Cesariano, first Italian edition, 117 woodcut illustrations including 9 full-page, woodcut initials, some ink marginalia (finger pointers and other grotesques), upper margin trimmed close, occasionally affecting headlines, some repairs to marginal tears, some slight worming to margins with a few leaves repaired, occasional browning, some light water-staining, mostly towards end, later vellum-backed boards, a little rubbed, [Mortimer, Italian 544; Adams V914; Cicognara 698; Fowler 395], folio, Como, Gottardo da Ponte, 15 July 1521. ***A very good copy of the first vernacular edition of Vitruvius. The illustrations, many of which are also by him, include plans and elevations of Milan cathedral, believed to be the first book illustrations of Gothic architecture..
