Description: 7x9½" maple woodcut proof of rolling hills scene, signed and titled in pencil by Valenti Angelo, and later inscribed in 1975 for D. Steven Corey (Gleeson Library Director of Special Collections), on the bottom margin. Tipped inside matting by Angelo.Woodcut scene used for the 1930 Grabhorn Press limited edition of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Inscribed and signed pencil note by Angelo on mat verso: "(Woodcut) Proof/ for Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman, cut on maple wood, 1930, Valenti Angelo." And below in pencil: "Given to D. Steven Corey, May 31, 1975, mounted by Valenti & given to me at his apartment at 1155 Jones, #504."
