DILLAWAY PATENT PLAIN FINGER LAMP, kerosene period, colorless, applied handle with thumbrest, recessed drip-catcher shoulder with exterior embossed "PAT JULY 18 1871", #1 fine line collar. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1871-1887. 3 1/4" h, 3 3/8" dia base.
Reference: Parallels B & K II, fig. 2258b. Provenance:Collection of Faith J. Meyer. Note: Hiram Dillaway (b.1813 - d.1887) served his apprenticeship to a South Boston mold maker in the late 1820's.
