Abstract Torso of a Woman. Accompanied with this lot is a 12 page diary from E. Brandon Miller, who was Willem De Koonings' House Painter from March 21st, 1964 to May of 1965. In the diary, Mr. Miller speaks of his conversations with De Kooning with respect to their mutual interest in the poetry of Dylan Thomas; who was a friend of De Kooning and of articles written by The Saturday Evening post, which made reference to De Koonings' drinking and womanizing. Mr. Miller notes that in 2 months he never saw De Kooning take as much as a drop of liquor or sign of another woman. At the end of his work, Mr. De Kooning gave E. Brandon Miller this painting that is offered here today. Size: 16" H x 5-1/2" W.
