American Guitar, Gibson Incorporated, Kalamazoo, 1942, Model Southerner Jumbo, stamped 2009, 33 at upper block, the headstock with GIBSON logo and ONLY A GIBSON IS GOOD ENOUGH banner, length of back 20 1/4 in., width of lower bout 16 1/16 in., with period case.
Although existing records indicate that regular production of the Southerner Jumbo commenced in 1944, there were models produced as early as 1942 without truss rods. This guitar is one of approximately forty produced with rosewood back and sides.

Condition report
Condition: Scratches, area of pick wear, finish check to top, lower edge of soundhole replaced, areas of top finished over near neck, four repaired hairline cracks on top, bridge original but thinned out. Good playing action. Refretted. Case not original.
