Choice Pre-Civil War Political Parade Torch Head

c. 1840, American Political Parade Torch Head, Iron, Choice Very Fine.
This early Political Parade Torch Head measures 6" in overall length, with it's original socket for placement upon a pole, as well as the original flat bottom lamp, which swings on the pole to level itself. The top part containing the wick, screws off to allow filling the lamp with oil. Originally painted black, much of the original color remains. Aside from a couple dents, the color, patina and overall condition are quite outstanding for this early political piece.
