Description
North Carolina CurrencyQuality 1754 Forty Shillings "Christ Church at Newbern"
North Carolina. March 9, 1754. Forty Shillings. "Christ Church at Newbern" Vignette. Extremely Fine.
The notes on this Act and type are notorious for having lots of problems such as major flaws, edge chinks and other numerous detriments. This note is crisp, original and bold looking with superior paper quality for the issue. It is one of the the finer examples of this denomination we have seen. The margins are excellent with a very wide and detailed indent at the left. Well printed with sharply detailed vignette. The four signatures are all well accomplished. Ex: NASCA, Wayte Raymond Auction, December 6, 1978, Lot 1172. It appears superior to the Boyd note from the Ford Sales and would fit into an upper echelon North Carolina currency collection.
