1901 William McKinley Official Inaugural Medal. Second Term. Struck In Bronze. About Uncirculated.
Dated 1901. WMcK 1901-3. Marqusee 29. 44mm. Bronze. With some small patches of verdigris on the shoulder, at right having attempted removal. Obverse with a profile of the President to the left, around which is the legend; SECOND INAUGURATION OF WILLIAM McKINLEY. The reverse depicts the U.S. Capitol building. In the exergue: MARCH 4, 1901. Around the central device in a raised band is the legend: WILLIAM McKINLEY PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. THEODORE ROOSEVELT VICE PRESIDENT. Only 3,000 of these medals were struck by the Jos. K. Davison Co. of Philadelphia for distribution to members of the Inaugural Committee. This was the first time that a medal was issued separately from the identifying committee badge.
