Rare 1810 Textbook On Federal Money

1810, Book Entitled: "A Federal Compendium: Being a Plain, Concise, and Easy Introduction to Arithmetic; Designed for the Use of Common Schools", by Chester Wright, Very Good.
This is the second edition of the Federal Compendium (the first was published in 1803), measuring 6" x 4", containing 108 pages, and was published in Middlebury, Vermont. Only a portion of the title page remains, and the first 18 pages of text are also missing. What does remain in this fascinating mathematics textbook includes a chapter titled: "Federal Money" (pages 27-35) which introduces students to the newly issued American Federal coinage, and a chapter titled: "Reduction Of Federal Money" (pages 58-67) which explains how to convert the value of money issued by the various states into U. S. dollars, and ends with an exchange rate table. Pages 68-71 gives the values of various foreign coins in terms of Federal dollars and cents. Aside from the missing pages and a missing corner on page 45, the rest of the book is in great condition for its age. This book has a homemade rebinding, in which a leather cover has been added to what was probably originally a paper bound book. Sold "As Is".

Chester Wright (1777-1840), a native of Vermont, was Preceptor of an English School in Middlebury, VT.
