Document Signed "Warren G Harding" as President
WARREN G. HARDING.
Partially Engraved Document Signed, "Warren G Harding" as President, October 2, 1922, Washington, D.C., 14" x 18", Choice Extremely Fine. An appointment of Taylor H. Johnson as Postmaster at Plainfield, Indiana. Co-signed by Hubert Work as Postmaster General. An embossed seal of the Post Office Department appears in the lower left and bears a nice impression of a mailman on a horse. Vignette of heraldic eagle appears at top. A few areas are lightly soiled, and two areas of toning from previous framing or storage--not affecting signatures. This document has never been folded with just a light crease along the left edge and it has wonderful eye appeal. Ex: EAHA Auction, June 7, 2003, Lot 127, where it sold for $575.
