Partly-Printed Military Commission, boldly printed on heavy paper, Signed in black ink and measuring a huge 4" across, "William McKinley" as President, Choice Very Fine. 16" x 21." Dated at Washington, September 9, 1899, appointing "Albert C. Allen... Second Lieutenant in the Thirty-eighth regiment of Infantry, United States Volunteers" and cosigned by "Elihu Root" as Secretary of War. A superior quality example having a full large, deep-blue official seal at lower left, with a large flourish of flags and military regalia. A document that would be perfect for framing and display. Ex: EAHA Auction, June 7, 2003, Lot 175, where it sold for $632.
