French & Indian War Era "Ames Almanack" for 1761
1761, "Astronomical Diary for an ALMANACK For the Year of our Lord CHRIST, 1761," by Nathaniel Ames, Boston, MA Printed and Sold by Draper, Green & Russell, & Fleet, Very Good.
Stitch-bound early colonial Almanack, 17 pages, 6.75" x 4.25", with a nice cover woodcut of a caricatured Sun. The almanack includes the standard astronomical calculations and calendars complete through October, along with a commentary by Ames on the second page--announcing that his very own poetry will adorn the pages of each calendar month. The pages are aged toned and have edge chipping, and some marginal penciled writing by previous owners.
