c. 1861, Scarce Postal-Used Patriotic Lincoln Cover, Choice Fine.
This scarce cover bears a bearded portrait of Lincoln in a patriotic frame printed in blue and red and bears a nice soldier's stencil at top "C. BUTLER CO. H." Cancelled with a black circular Ingham, MI postmark over the 3 cent stamp, this specific example was pictured in the noted 2000 Nutmeg auction of the collection of Professor Jon E. Bischel. [References: Milgram AL-136; Walcott 203.] Stenciled soldier's covers are quite scarce. This example bears some light toning and minor marginal wear.
