1855 Book on the Presentation of General Andrew Jackson's Sword to Congress
1855, Collection of Speeches Made in Congress on the Presentation of General Andrew Jackson's Sword to Congress, Fine (Internally Very Fine).
This is a 40 page collection of speeches, with light blue paper cover, measuring 8.25" x 5.5", published in Washington, DC by A. O. P. Nicholson in 1855, on order of the House of Representatives. There are no illustrations in this book. This book has folded page corners and some light soiling here and there, but is mostly clean and bright inside. There are some small pieces missing from the covers. The full title is: "Addresses on the Presentation of the Sword of Gen. Andrew Jackson to the Congress of the United States. The first speech is by Senator Cass of Michigan, who explains that the sword was carried by Jackson in all his campaigns, including the Battle of New Orleans, and that Jackson presented the sword, on his deathbed, to General Armstrong. In 1855, Gen. Armstrong's son, William M. Armstrong, presented the sword to Congress. A very interesting account of a wonderful American historical relic.
