"Masonry Unmasked" 1869 Democratic Book
1869 Anti-Free Mason Tract, "Masonry Unmasked," Choice Very Fine.
9.5" x 6", 4 pages. Printed at Rochester, NY by the Rochester Democrat Book and Job Printing House. The front page bears a large image of William Morgan, a man "Abducted and disposed of for Exposing Free Masonry, A.D. 1826." In this "Address and Remarks," Reverend W. Post lays out the charges against Free-Masonry, essentially claiming that the bonds between Masonic brothers interfered with, superseded, and violated, the bonds between Christian brothers. In one illustration, a Confederate soldier was released by his Union captors after they discovered that he was a Mason! Rare, interesting, and definitely politically incorrect by today's standards.
