Description
Historic MapsMAPPA GEOGRAPHICA REGIONEM MEXICANAM ET FLORIDAM..., by M. Seutter
1731-1760, MAPPA GEOGRAPHICA REGIONEM MEXICANAM ET FLORIDAM..., by M. Seutter, Augsburg, Very Fine.
18.5" x 22.5", copperplate engraving, outline color in green, gold, orange and blue. After de l'Isle. A view of the eastern U.S., to New Mexico, down Central America to Panama, and the top of South American. Florida has a strange shape, having no panhandle. Many Indian tribes are named throughout. Beautiful ship vignettes around the area of Bermuda, as well as a compass rose; a sea battle takes place in the lower left corner, observed by men on shore, as others conduct business. The right half of the map is evenly toned light tan-brown. A lovely map, suitable for framing and display. Ex: EAHA Auction, October 5, 2002, Lot 1297, where it sold for $1,000.
