Portrait of the Chemist Justus von Liebig (1803 - 1873). 1856. Salt print (with cut corners) from collodion glass negative. 27 x 21,5 cm. Mounted to original studio board (slightly soiled/time-stained and slight traces of use) with ornamental borders, photographer's letterpress and annotated and dated in ink below the image on the mount.
A few very light retouched spots and horizontal pencil line near lower edge, otherwise a rich dark print in excellent condition.
