Oil on canvas, unsigned, possibly Stephen Alke (Ohio, 1875-1941). An impressionistic view of the Ohio River from the Kentucky shore, with Cincinnati in the background. The verso with a profile portrait of a young girl. 21 3/4"h. 18"w., modern frame, 27 3/4"h. 23 1/2"w. Alke was born in Kentucky and studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under Frank Duveneck and L.H. Meakin. His wife was fellow-artist Elizabeth Heil Alke (1877-1938).
