KENTUCKY SILVER LADLE.
Marked for Asa Blanchard, Lexington, Kentucky, ca.1825. Monogrammed "LMB", minor repair to the bowl. 14"l. Blanchard (ca.1770-1838) first appears in Lexington when he advertises in the Kentucky Gazette in February 1807, although little is known of his life prior to his removal to Kentucky. See Hollan, "Of the Latest Style: Silver at MESDA", in The Magazine Antiques, January 2007, and Boultinghouse, Silversmiths, Jewelers, Clock and Watch Makers of Kentucky 1785-1900, pp. 69-75.

Condition report
Condition: Monogram appears later, mark slightly worn, repair to the bowl appears to be the light hammering out of a dent.
