Possibly New England, early 19th Century. Pine. Dovetailed box retaining its original wire hinges, iron latch and lock, and its original red over yellow putty decoration. Lacking handle, minor wear.

Condition: Lacking original brass handle and with elements of an early leather replacement, minor wear, tight age crack about 1/2 way across the top, darkened varnish.
