PASTEL OF CAPTAIN BARRY.
American, turn of the 20th Century. Pastel on cardboard of the Revolutionary War naval captain, John Barry. Barry was born in Ireland, 1745, and died in Philadelphia,1803, after engaging in several naval battles as well as the Trenton campaign. The pastel, after an oil portrait, is artist initialed "MHB". The back has a penciled mailing label to "RJ Barry, New York Life Building, La Salle...(Philadelphia)". Framed. 19"h. 15 3/4"w.
