World War II Poster: “I am telling you,” by James Montgomery Flagg, American Lithographic Co., NY, Choice Very Fine.
30” x 20,” red, blue, yellow, and pink ink on a white background, featuring “Uncle Sam” “telling” Americans to “enlist in the army of war savers” to raise money in support of the “Torch of Liberty” war effort. Large, expressive design by Flagg, whose unmistakable style enhances this piece. Very minor age-toning, and some edge tears top and bottom, repaired on back with tape, but not detracting from the overall quality of the piece. A previous copy of this historic poster sold for $900 in our June 7, 2003 sale!
