Title: Richard Sloan
Artist: Richard Sloan Printing Year: 1968-1974; 45 hand signed bird prints Condition/Details: Bound in two very large gilt embossed leather folios, this is a rare collection of 45 beautiful full-color prints of North American birds by the noteworthy wildlife artist Richard Sloan (1935-2007). Each finely reproduced print is held in an individual mylar sleeve bound into the leather folios, and parchment sheets separate the different images. Each 22"x28" print is hand signed by Sloan in bold black ink, along with printed text reading "Private Collection of J. L. Wade", the famous Purple Martin expert and bird house entrepreneur, and the publisher of this endeavor. This collection includes a portrait frontispiece of Sloan executed by Norman Rockwell; the group lacks five of the originally published/bound image (13, 14, 24, 49, and 50). Each of the prints have been extremely well-preserved in their mylar sleeves and are thus in near-pristine condition with virtually no signs of age or wear. Overall, this is a fantastic collection of fine ornithological images. The leather books are in good external condition with a few small scuffs and dents. The books measure approximately 23" x 28". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $29.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
