Henri François Joseph de Régnier (1864-1936) was a major French Symbolist poet who influenced Kuzmin and his Russian contemporaries. Although Aubrey Beardsley most profoundly influenced Mitrokin, the Russian's comparatively chaste, naive art in this volume seems more in line with Matisse and the French boudoir painters.Images
