18ct gold top wind Hunter pocket watch with equestrian association - Roman numerals to the main dial with stop button second hand and thirty minute recorder - the dial also marked 'Miles per hour from 1/4 mile distance'. The inner plate inscribed 'From Mortimer Singer to John Watts Jnr For Winning the Manchester Cup 1902 on Rambling Katie'. Mortimer Singer (later Sir Mortimer Singer) was part of the sewing machine family and was well known for his interest in horses though perhaps more famous for his successes in sailing and flying. Rambling Katie was ridden by John Watts Jnr son of Johnny Watts who won the Derby on Merry Hampton from whom Rambling Katie was descended. Case diameter 5.2cm.
