First EditionArguments for the extension of the U.S. border to at least 54o 40', with much on the history and geography of the region; Howes calls this a "Leading contemporary authority, well documented." Issued as Senate document 174, 26th Congress, 1st Session. The map, drawn by David H. Burr, "looks much like the 1838 Laurie and doubtless both took their inspiration from the same Arrowsmith map." Among the interesting, if inaccurate, features is as a range of "Snowy Mountains" running from Cape Mendocino to Great Salt Lake.
