Wolf Kahn is considered the best colorist in American art. Wolf Kahn (b. 1927, Stuttgart, Germany) immigrated to the U.S. in 1940. Using nature as his starting point, Kahn's art encompasses both pictorial landscape and painterly abstraction. Converging color and light to create vivid atmospheric and sensual fields, his paintings evoke the eternal world of nature. Kahn regularly exhibits at the finest galleries and museums across North America, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the Los Angeles County Museum. Originally, Kahn studied under Abstract Expressionist Hans Hoffman, becoming Hoffman's studio assistant. He completed his baccalaureate degree at the University of Chicago in one year. He has received numerous scholarships and fellowships and has painted landscapes in diverse locales all over the world.Images PLEASE NOTE: * THIS AUCTION STARTS ON SUNDAY JUNE 1, 2008 AT 11:30 A.M.
