35th President. Typed letter signed on his Senate letterhead, one page, quarto. Washington, July 13, 1953 to Massachusetts campaign leader William O'Connor. The letter reads: "Dear Bill, I want to thank you very much indeed for talking with Jack Kearns for me. I have written directly to him and have told him if he would take the initial step, insofar as municipal or city jobs are concerned and is successful in uncovering a vacancy, I shall be happy to write in his interest. There isn't too much one can do when there is so much involved as in this particular case. Many thanks for your message of congratulations and I certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness. Assuring you of my appreciation of your efforts in regard to Mr. Kearns and with kindest personal regard, I am Sincerely Yours, John F. Kennedy". Signed, "John".
